Blog review of Locas Web Tech

Today I found the first opportunity on PayPerPost that was actually added by a fellow blogger and was about his blog, containing PayPerPost related articles; a nice surprise! The subject? Locas Web Tech, a weblog, containing all sorts of website resources and web related articles, posts and guides. I must say it surprised me to read he’s using PHPNuke to blog, it’s a fairly nice CMS, but I didn’t expect it was ‘mature’ enough to build a decent blog on yet; I’ve learned something new as well.

As I wrote, his weblog offers various of nice articles, all visible on this ‘Top Posts’ page, which is a very useful feature – you can see in one view what the most popular posts are and most likely the most interesting ones as well. One of the articles I found quite interesting, and apparently quite some users with me, judging by the view count, is the article ‘5 Tips to rank high in search engines‘, describing a couple of tips on SEO areas. The typography could use a little work though; some more paragraphs would make the whole thing a lot more readable, perhaps you can work on that one Locas ;) .

Two articles that also definitely are worth mentioning are ‘Blog optimization for profit‘, which explains how to make your weblog a bit more easy for search engines, and the article ‘SEO Magicians Wand Technique in Detail‘. The last one explains some other optimizations you can use to make your blog better in SEO perspective, he’s missing one of the points though; search engine friendly links – something his website could also use, a link with his title in it would be a lot more describing to both the visitors as well as the search engine, I’m quite sure PHPNuke has one available!

A couple of last tips for LocasWT though; drop the Feedburner statistics, it doesn’t look to fantastic to see ‘0 subscribers’, it might even scare users. Also, it might be a good idea to greatly reduce the amount of referral images, the chance of people following ads that pop up everywhere is fairly small, just position them in one or two small places and the chance of referees is a lot bigger. As last suggestion I’d like to see the requirement to register before being able to comment removed, that way you make it easier to people to comment, registering will just take a lot of your visitors time. I hope I’ve helped you some with these suggestions as well as the exposure, good luck Locas and keep up the nice work!
