Samsung -being a sponsor of the 29th Olympics in Bejing- is looking for people who want to bear the Olympic torch. On the European Samsung site you can nominate both yourself or someone else who you think deserves such an honor.
There are of course some requirements for those who want to be nominated, amongst some other minor things that deal with marketing issues, you must be ‘physically able to run 400m and carry the Olympic flame’ and be 14 years or older. The website of Samsung also states it’s looking for ‘local heroes’. People who have made the life of others around them a little better.
Now, when you nominate someone you’re required to write a short story, about why they are a real ‘life hero’. Be quick with nominating though, as the the deadline for entries is already on this sunday midnight! Click here to Nominate torchbearers for the historic Torch Relay to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games!

Yes yes, yet another article about the iPod. But this one is rather funny.
In Texas, a 14 year old girl wanted an iPod for her birthday. So her mother took her to a nearby Target store to buy one.
However, when they came home and opened the box, it did not contain an iPod but just a few rocks. They went back to the Target store and they got in-store credit. But apparently that Target had no remaining iPods in stock so they went to another Target close by. At the second store the girl bought another iPod, and opened it in front of the employees.
And guess what…? Another box full of rocks! (for more of these incredibly funky puns, visit: Gizmodo!)
I suppose because it’s an iPod the whole thing gets a lot more attention than if it would be, let’s say, a Sweex power supply, but still it’s interesting…

When buying a new product, such as car or iPod, you’ll usually wonder whether or not you should get an insurance or extended warranty for it, or at least I do so, every time. Often you’ll end up with a way too expensive insurance or one that doesn’t even cover half the risks, such as having your precious media player stolen or soaked when you’ve left it in your jeans…
Alright, that kind of scenario’s aren’t too common with cars, but nonetheless it might not hurt to look for the cheapest car insurance around, as it’ll potentially save you a whole load of money, especially when you’ve been driving without insurance claims for several years. To do so, you can of course visit the web pages of the insurance companies you just happen to know of, look for the insurance you might want, write down the price, and repeat this several times.
The much easier, and of course way faster, way is to check out the website Go Compare and simply go to the section you want and start the searching. When you’ve picked the section you’re looking for, you’ll be asked to fill in a form, after you’ve done so you’ll receive the insurance quotes by mail; no trouble or payments involved! Just sit back, and relax by the idea of the money saved…

According to a nice investigation done by the Commonwealth Bank located in Australia, the new iPod Nano, which Apple released a while back, highly fluctuates in price, depending on the country. In fact, the prices range from as low as $148.12 (in Thailand, almost 1$ cheaper than the US price of $149) all the way till $369.61 in Brazil; that’s more than a factor 2!
Personally I find it pretty weird to see the prices are this high; here in the Netherlands the US prices in dollars are simply equal to the ones in euro’s on all Apple products. It might seem logic, having the European prices include taxes, but currently $1 is only 0.70€… Apparently Apple either loves their profit margins, or they make more costs in Europe, though I sadly doubt it’s the latter.

Apparently the guys over at ProBlogger have decided to start giving away a whole lot of prices for their birthday. Not too shocking, of course. Though, according to their article, the total worth of the prices exceeds the $54 000, that’s a whole lot of money!
All you’ve got to do in order to stand a chance to win one of their prices is by creating a blog post – like this one - and link to their articles, like I did earlier already. After that, all what’s left is adding a comment on one of his give-away posts!
