Co-operativebank Credit Cards

Credit cards, at first glance they look like nothing more than some piece of plastic, however when you take a look at what kinds of things they make possible they get more and more interesting. I think it’s no wonder popularity of credit cards is still increasing nowadays. Ofcourse one reason for that would be the increasing popularity of web shopping. Paying with Credit Card is one of the preferred ways of paying when people are shopping online.

Several companies actually offer very interesting sorts of credit cards. One of those is the British Co-operativebank. Credit cards from them come in various versions. One of those is a card that’s got 0% (zero) interest over the first six months, after which it raises to a normal rate. Another cool feature is that of a free travel accident insurance, and the special travel credit card actually offers discounts on holidays. The most interesting novelty is the ‘affinity-card’ that earns money for your chosen organisation as you spend it. You can chose from a variety of organisations like Amnesty, Greenpeace and Oxfam. However, never forget to use your credit card wisely!

Google’s Birthday!

Today is Google’s ninth birthday! What started as a project from two graduate university students in California. Now is a billion dollar company, with over 13.000 employees. Everyone around the world must have heard of Google these days (If not, I wonder how you got on this site anyway), and millions of them use the search engine daily when ’surfin’ on the net’ .
Interesting to note is that the ‘official’ birthday-date of Google has moved around over the years, being somewhere in september, apparently they’re following the Google employee demand of cake. Or that’s the answer their Help Center  gives…

Read about crime & justice by real lawyers

trackimgCrime & justice, perhaps this has been the most seen subject in movies, books and computer games, after romance of course. This also makes it pretty logical that TV programs such as CSI and all of its spin offs become fairly-very popular.

However, so far I haven’t seen any blogs regarding this subject while browsing on the web, until recently. While surfing I came across the site KegLayers.com, which is a combination of Los Angeles Criminal Attorney Blog | California Criminal Defense Lawyers Forum, giving you various updated reports on various cases handled by these lawyers, which are pretty interesting to read. Besides the fact it’s a nice read, it’s also a great example of how to promote your own company by creating a worthy website, it’s free promotion after all!

Dutch researchers: Abandon e-voting

Today the Netherlands seem to have made it into the worldwide headlines – or at least bloglines – once again. Not with prostitutes, Iraq or drugs, while this might seem pretty normal, it doesn’t happen every day that even American newspapers report something from Europe. The reason? An research committee, assembled by the Dutch parliament, has advised our minister of home affairs to disallow the usage of machines to process the votes with the upcoming elections.

This will most likely seem odd, it does to me at least, but according to the committee, it is too simple to manipulate the machines and thus the results of the vote to be considered ‘fair’. Personally I’d recommend them to look for a safe but electronic way to handle the votes, simply for the sake of speed and costs; it’d be great to be able to hear the results just a few hours after you’ve voted yourself, rather than having to wait till every vote has been counted by hand…

Finance break; make sure you’ve got the best deal!

Finance is boring, face it. I don’t think even those who are working in the finance business – at a bank or so – actually enjoy reading through pages with information regarding mortgages. Note, in case you do, please let me know, I’d be glad to hear so ;) .

Nonetheless it doesn’t hurt at all to make sure you’re actually getting the best deal, after all, this might save you quite a welcome amount of money every year. To make sure you aren’t being ripped off by yourself, you might want to look at the website UKPersonalLoanStore, which has a nice comparison for both personal loans and secured loans, once again, not to most funny thing to do, but imagine what you could do with a few hundred extra pounds a year – not bad ‘aye?
