‘Pimp’ your Wordpress WYSIWYG editor

Everyone familiar with Wordpress knows it’s using a fancy Javascript based What You See Is What You Get editor, allowing you to markup your articles as you go in an easy Word-like way. However, when you’ve been using it for longer than a couple of weeks, you’ll also notice a lot of things are missing, especially if you compare it to the ‘full’ functionality TinyMCE offers (which is the name of this editor).

The not so famous developer JD has written an interesting plugin for Wordpress (1.5 and 2.x compatible) that will fix the most of this trouble. One of the things it’ll do is add a ton of new features. Perhaps the most interesting ones are the ability to shrink images in both size and compression. One of the other new features a lot of non-native English speakers will find useful is the option to look up words from inside the editor on Dictionary.com, Thesaurus and Wikipedia. Best of all, no core modifications are required; you wont be able to screw your setup with it!
