SupportUniverse relaunching, find the freelancer for your project for ‘free’

SupportUniverse, a website helping Freelance programmers and project managers to find each other is relaunching again. Apparently their previous approach with fees in order to put up the advertisements didn’t quite work out too well and they’re going another way this time. Too bad I’m too short in time – and in knowhow – to be able to take these opportunities, even though they seem to be pretty well paying.

Instead of asking for payment, right now all their website is asking for is a link from the homepage of the project managers – a very smart way to boost the PageRank and exposure of your website. Sadly the website itself isn’t very attracting; it’s grey with dark blue and doesn’t use any ‘modern’ technology, not even friendly URLs, I suppose they should consider putting some money in that as well – the first impression of your visitor is quite important.

Besides the negative points, the website seems to be fairly interesting, programmers and designers are able to make bids for the opportunities available; the one with the lowest offer will eventually ‘win’ the assignment. Payment seems to be handled after the goods have been released, the money will stay reserved though, which minizes the chance of being ‘ripped off’ by your employer, giving it a fair advantage over direct contact.
