Totally off topic yet still amazing; how not to unload a cargo ship

The Dutch radio reported today that some ship capsized in a harbor somewhere in Belgium. It didn’t quite surprise me at first; even though it’s not like ‘regular’ news, it didn’t sound really shocking or spectacular at all. If you’d like to take a look at them yourself, you can view some (low quality) first-moment pictures here, or take a look at the bigger and higher quality pictures made from a chopper half a day later.

Capsized cargo ship in Belgium harbor

However, when I saw the, pretty amazing, pictures on the web later this changed a lot. I must say I’m still amazed by what happened, not to mention how it could have happened in the first place. I doubt there isn’t any ‘tactic’ or so in unloading this kind of huge cargo ships, judging by the pictures the ship itself was still relatively new and still totally in tact. I suppose the results of the investigations might show up in the news later this year…

Actually there probably is a proper procedure on loading/unloading cargo ships. You can’t unload all the containers from one side of the ship only, and expect the ship to still be standing upright, or vice versa.
