Used or new hardware?
I came across an interesting request about creating a buzz on a post at A.P. Lawrence’s blog, written by Corey Donovan, so let’s go. Corey Donovan, the author, seems to work for company named Vibrant Technologies, who seem to specialize in refurbished/second hand hardware so the post might not be too unbiased, but at least it’s an interesting statement to say that not-new servers are a good deal. These ‘non-new’ servers are part of the so called gray market in the computer business. It’s often not clear if this second hard hardware is second hand or brand new (and stolen). His post states that it’s smart to pick second hand above new hardware, since the price is often lower and, as long as you pick a quality retailer and quality hardware, it shouldn’t matter to much in legality and reliability. Interesting statement and interesting man, take a look!
